Eureka, Corporate Welcome Page by Policy

I have finally found out how I can get what I want with the Corporate Welcome Page pushed by a Policy.

Read this to get the basics:  http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus/library/ls-WelcomePage/

Problem is that I do not want to use the built in framesets available to me in the custom bookmarks.nsf. I want to have my own frameset from my own application.

Hmm, I go into the setup in the custom bookmarks.nsf and try to select one application in a one frame layout. Where is the place I choose to open a frameset in my application. It is not there. It only lets me select a view or a folder. That is so restricted.

Then I got an idea that I wanted to try. What if I make a Notes URL to my frameset and in the layout use one frame that opens a web page.

Yes, it works !

The Notes URL is composed by putting notes:// in the start, then enter Domino server name, database filename or Replica ID and then the resource you want to open. I choose my frameset.

There is a trick to get the Notes URL from the address toolbar described here:  http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/dominowiki.nsf/dx/Video_Get_the_Notes_URL_Using_the_Address_tool_bar_

I hope you get as glad I got when I found out this. Now I can use the intended Policy to give the users our custom welcome page, whatever layout it has.
